Common Questions

How do I make an appointment?

If you’re ready to schedule a first session, or just have some questions you’d like answered, e-mail us at info@watersedgepsychotherapy.com or call us at 612-293-0768.

How long will I be in therapy?

The length of time you stay in therapy is always up to you.  There may be times when you are just looking for a sounding board and a few sessions will serve you well. Many people feel some relief shortly after starting therapy and start to see changes after a few months. If you are working on a particular, concrete issue, this may be as much time as you need. Other people stay in therapy for a year or several years as they work to cultivate deep, lasting change in their lives and relationships.

Do you accept insurance?

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

-Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
-What is my deductible and has it been met?
-What is my co-pay or coinsurance?
-How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
-What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
-What are my out-of-network mental health insurance benefits?

What can I expect for my first session?

From your very first session you will begin to work on whatever it is that you would like to accomplish through therapy, even if at first that just means making sense of what has brought you in. During your first session you will also discuss some formalities of therapy, including arranging a fee for each session and deciding on a regular meeting time.

How much does therapy cost?

The fee for an initial session is $200.  The fee for a 50-minute individual or couples session is $165.  Methods of payment include checks (payable to Water’s Edge Psychotherapy, LLC) or cash. The fee is due at the beginning of each session. Find more information here

If this fee is a barrier to you receiving services, in some cases we are able to negotiate a reduced fee. We encourage you to speak with your therapist about this during your first session.

What is your cancellation policy?

In this type of therapy, your weekly session time or times are reserved especially for you. Due to the nature of this type of therapy, we require 2 business-days notice for cancellations. With less than two business-days notice, we will do our best to offer you an alternative appointment time within that calendar week. Appointments cancelled with less than 2 business-day’s notice will be billed at your full fee.
